This project is an initiative of the President of the Commission on Population, Environment and Development, National Assembly Deputy Victor Juliao III. The purpose of this law is to prevent, eradicate and punish mistreatment, neglect, and acts of cruelty against domestic animals. The document identifies the different types of abuse that these animals receive from their owners, and emphasized the fulfillment of their rights to be the best friends of man. These rights are based on the type or breed of animal, the natural longevity of the animal, as well as required care, attention, and protection; and consequently they should not be subjected to abuse or cruelty. The principal right animals will have will be to have adequate food and nutrition, including a reasonable limitation of time and intensity of work, rest, and not be forced to work beyond the capabilities of their physical body. Owners who break the law or threaten the lives of animals can be fined from $500 to $1,000 dollars, based on items one and two of the law. Under Article 15, in numerals three, four, five and six, provides that the fines will range from $100 to $ 500.

$2,000 GRANT AWARDED TO FADAB!

http://www.fadab.org/1/post/2012/02/2000-grant-awarded-to-fadab.html

http://www.fadab.org/1/post/2012/02/2000-grant-awarded-to-fadab.html#comments

Uncategorized

Fundacion Amigos de Animales Boquete was named Shelter of the Week by SPCA International, an organization dedicated to supporting the safety and well-being of animals worldwide. This grant was given in recognition of the outstanding work that our organization is accomplishing and to support our continued efforts in improving the lives of animals in our community. The award included a financial grant of $2,000 to [...]

The award included a financial grant of $2,000 to FADAB and recognition of our work on their website.

2012 CALENDARS ARE SOLD OUT!!

http://www.fadab.org/1/post/2012/02/2012-calendars-are-sold-out.html

http://www.fadab.org/1/post/2012/02/2012-calendars-are-sold-out.html#comments

Uncategorized

A huge THANK YOU to the Boquete Community for making the 2012 AMIGOS DE ANIMALES CALENDAR a success! ">We had 65 scheduled... and 84 showed up plus 5 tumor dogs! It was a long day..all the way to 7 p.m. But, the volunteers stood strong and the vets stood even stronger!. Thank goodness for all the help. We terminated several pregnancies and fixed several female dogs and cats who were ready to get pregnant. It was an amazing day. Thanks to Habla Ya for the new volunteers, thanks to the 4 vet students from Canada, thanks to Boquete for the "old" and "new" volunteers and thanks to the animal collectors for the animals!

We paid out much more than we took in and that is why we fundraise. We always pay the vets $10 per dog and $5 per cat even if we do not get paid anything which seems to be often. But that is why we are here. We want to reach the Panamanian community and we are...thanks to all of you!

Our next clinic is August 28, 2011. Call Jessica at 6563-8686 or email us for an appointment. Some of you left our clinic in July because the lines were long and seemingly the vets were slow. It is true. A way of life for us. We schedule you but you do not come as we schedule you...some are early, some are late, some are very late, some are very early.......BUT, we accommodate all of you for $10 per dog and $5 per cat even though it costs us twice that amount. We ask for your patience and your understanding.

If you do not want to come to our LOW COST clinics, please schedule with your personal vet to get your animals sterilized. Every day, hundreds, perhaps thousands of animals suffer from non-sterilization. They get tumors, they get pregnant, they get run over by cars, they starve, they die from parasites, they get killed in fights. Please, Please, sterilize your animals.

And now for the coming events: Wellness clinics in Caldera and Potrerillos, Saturday, August 6, 2011 Free vaccinations to prevent distemper, parvo and other debilitating diseases. Donations for vaccines can be made to our Global Bank account. Contact Judy Sacco for details at jwsacco@yahoo.com or Ruby at valjala2@gmail.com Vaccines cost $3 each and there has been a recent outbreak in Caldera of distemper a KILLING, HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS disease. We hope to vaccinate 200-300 in Caldera and 200 in Potrerillos. Hopefully the disease does not reach Boquete town...Renew your vaccine for dogs NOW!

To continue our quest..the Venta de Patio Sale
(Garage Sale)
bake sale, food and beverage sale..Sunday, September 4, 2011. Watch for the notices from Snoopy. And, of course, Bid 4 Boquete February 11 and 12, 2012...we need donations of goods and services.

Again, thank you Boquete for your continued support of Amigos de Animales.
